PDF to Word
This file will be uploaded. It is deleted within 30 minutes. The first file from a network is free, up to 20 pages, when the PDF has selectable text. The next file needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year. A pass does not lift that cap.
Steps
- Drop a PDF that has selectable text. A scan will not convert here.
- Leave the email empty for the free file, or enter the email you used at checkout.
- Download the Word file. The server copy is deleted within 30 minutes.
Questions
Is the file uploaded?
Yes. Merge, compress, and the other browser tools are not. PDF to Word stores the PDF and the Word file in GridFS until the retention job deletes both.
What does the Word file contain?
The selectable text, one PDF page at a time. It does not recreate columns, fonts, or pictures. If the PDF has no text layer, the page refuses it. OCR is not this tool.
Does the day pass renew?
No. It is $6, charged once, and it ends 24 hours later. The year is $60. We email 7 days before that charge. Both checkouts are on the pricing page. Pricing
What this conversion changes
PDF to Word writes a Word file from the selectable text. The download name is the original file name with .docx, or document.docx when the upload has no name. The Word file is the selectable text, one PDF page at a time. Each line becomes a paragraph, and a page break separates one PDF page from the next. It does not recreate columns, fonts, or pictures. The text stays in the order the text layer listed. The result is a .docx, not a new PDF and not a picture of the page.
This page uploads the PDF. It is not a browser tool. The server stores the PDF and the Word file in GridFS. A retention job deletes both within 30 minutes. Merge, compress, and watermark do not upload. The Word file is built on the server and returned as the download. Leave the email empty for the first file. The next file needs the email from checkout.
Every conversion on this page stops above 20 pages, whether the file is the free one or a paid one. A pass does not lift that cap. The page shows "This conversion stops at 20 pages." The stop happens before the page text is copied into Word. The first PDF-to-Word file from a network is free. One file. No card. Leave the email empty for that file. The next file needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year, and the page asks for the email from checkout. The day pass is $6, charged once, and it ends 24 hours later. It does not renew. The year is $60. The site emails 7 days before that year charge. There is no monthly plan. Both checkouts are on the pricing page.
A PDF with no text layer is refused with "This PDF has no text layer. A scan needs OCR, which this page does not do." An empty PDF shows "This PDF has no pages." A file that is not a PDF shows "Choose a PDF." A file that cannot be read shows "This PDF could not be read." A file above 20 pages shows "This conversion stops at 20 pages." After the free file, the page shows "The first file was free. The next one needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year. Enter the email from checkout." Missing MongoDB refuses the upload. The browser tools on the other pages do not use it.
Is the first file free?
Yes. The first PDF-to-Word file from a network is free. One file. No card. Leave the email empty for that file. The next file needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year, and the page asks for the email from checkout. The sentence is "The first file was free. The next one needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year. Enter the email from checkout."
What if the PDF is a scan?
This page refuses a PDF with no text layer. It shows "This PDF has no text layer. A scan needs OCR, which this page does not do." OCR is a different page. OCR uploads and needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year. OCR is not free. The free server file is PDF to Word, not the OCR page. This conversion does not read pictures of letters.
Does a pass lift the page cap?
No. A pass does not lift that cap. Every conversion on this page stops above 20 pages, whether the file is the free one or a paid one. The page shows "This conversion stops at 20 pages."
How long is the file kept?
The server stores the PDF and the Word file in GridFS. A retention job deletes both within 30 minutes. This page uploads the PDF. It is not a browser tool. Merge, compress, and watermark do not upload.
