What this info clear removes
Remove PDF info takes one PDF and no option field. The worker loads it with pdf-lib and updateMetadata set to false, so the save does not write the producer string pdf-lib. It deletes eight keys from the document info dictionary when that dictionary is present: Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, CreationDate, and ModDate. A reader that shows Document Properties should then show those fields as empty. The page text, the page count, the page size, and selectable text stay. An XMP metadata stream is not removed. Those bytes can remain in the file, and a tool that reads XMP can still see them. Annotations, attachments, bookmarks, and a digital signature are left in place. The download is one PDF named no-info.pdf, not a zip. The original file on the computer is not rewritten. Remove PDF metadata is the sibling that also deletes the XMP stream. This page does not.
The clear runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. Open the network panel, drop a PDF, and that file should not appear as an upload. There is no GridFS copy and no email field. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads no-info.pdf. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads. This page does not.
There is no page cap. The tab has to hold the file. The same eight info keys are deleted no matter how long the PDF is, if the browser can keep it. This page does not need a pass and has no account. The day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. The year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required here. The free server file is one PDF to Word conversion, up to 20 pages, and that 20-page server cap is not this tool. OCR and heavy compress are paid uploads. Remove PDF info is not that offer.
Empty bytes, and a file that cannot be opened, fail with "This PDF could not be read." A PDF with no pages fails with "This PDF has no pages." A locked PDF fails with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". This page does not guess a password. Unlock PDF is the separate page. A file that has no info dictionary still downloads as no-info.pdf. The missing keys are already absent, and the page text is unchanged.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
Questions
Which fields disappear?
Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, CreationDate, and ModDate disappear when they sit in the info dictionary. XMP stays. The words drawn on the page stay. A signature stays.
Does remove PDF info upload the PDF?
No. The file stays in this tab. The network panel should not show the PDF as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. The download is no-info.pdf.
Does this remove XMP?
No. The catalog metadata stream is left in the file. A reader that only shows the info dictionary can look empty while XMP still holds a title or an author. Remove PDF metadata is the page that deletes that stream. This page says that limit before the file is chosen.
Does a pass change this page?
No. This page does not need a pass. There is no account and no page cap. The day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. The year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge clears the info dictionary. The 20-page server cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress. It is not this tool.
