What this watermark adds

Add watermark takes one PDF and a text field labeled Watermark text. The input has maxLength 80, and the worker trims the text. It stamps that trimmed text once, centered, on every page. The angle is -32 degrees. Opacity is 0.35. The font is Helvetica. The color is rgb(0.55, 0.51, 0.45). The size is 18% of the shorter page side, and it is clamped between 18 and 72 points. The stamp is real text, not a picture, so the words stay selectable. Existing page text stays. The tool does not downsample, and it does not remove a watermark already in the file. It does not stamp the words "PDF Commons", a logo, or a trial line. It stamps only what the visitor typed. The download is one PDF named watermarked.pdf. It is not a zip. The original file on the computer is not rewritten. Add page numbers is the separate page. It prints an integer at the bottom center. This page does not.

The stamp is drawn in this browser tab, and the PDF is not uploaded. Open the network panel, drop the file, and the PDF should not appear as an upload. Nothing in the watermark field is sent to a server either. The browser offers watermarked.pdf as the download when the stamp is done. Closing the tab drops the copy. There is no email field on this page.

There is no account and no page cap on this local tool. The tab has to hold the file. The worker does not enforce a page cap. A day pass is $6 and does not renew. A year is $60. Neither charge is required to watermark here. The free server file is PDF to Word, one file, up to 20 pages, and that page uploads. Watermark is not that offer.

A file with no pages fails with "This PDF has no pages." A locked PDF stops with the worker error "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined", because the worker cannot read the encrypted page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one. Unlock PDF is the separate page, and it only works with a password the visitor already knows. Empty or whitespace-only text fails with "Enter the watermark text." More than 80 characters after trimming fails with "Use 80 characters or fewer."

Steps

  1. Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
  2. Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
  3. Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
