What this range keeps
Keep PDF range takes one PDF and two fields named Start and End. Both default to 1. The numbers are inclusive and count from 1. The download is one file named kept-pages.pdf. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib and deletes every page outside that range. Kept pages stay in the same document, in the order they already had. Pages that say ONE, then TWO, then THREE, with Start 2 and End 3, become TWO and then THREE. Page ONE leaves. The document title stays Keep Title. A link on a kept page stays. A link on a removed page leaves with that page. A rotation of 90 degrees stays. A page that is 200 by 100 points stays 200 by 100 points. Nothing is rasterized, so the words stay selectable. This is not Split PDF, which can write several files. This is not Odd and even PDF pages, which keeps one side. This is not Organize PDF, which asks you to delete pages by hand.
The range runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Open the network panel, drop a PDF, and that file should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads kept-pages.pdf. Split PDF can write several files. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
There is no page cap on this range. The tab has to hold the file. This range does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to keep a page range here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.
An empty file stops with "This PDF could not be read." A file that pdf-lib cannot open stops with the same sentence. A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." End below Start, a value that is not a whole number, or a page past the last page stops with "Name a page that exists." A locked file, opened without its password, stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
Questions
Which pages stay?
Start and End are inclusive and count from 1. Start 2 and End 3 keep the second page and the third page, in that order. Start equal to End keeps that one page. Split PDF can write more than one file. Odd and even PDF pages keeps a side without a typed range.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. The range runs in this tab. The file is not uploaded. Open the network panel, drop the file, and the PDF should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. You get kept-pages.pdf, and the Word page uploads.
Do the words and the link stay?
Yes, on a kept page. Text that says ONE, TWO, or THREE stays when that page is inside the range. The document title stays Keep Title. A rotation of 90 degrees stays. A link on a kept page stays. The page does not become a picture.
Does this range need the $6 day pass?
No. A $6 day pass lasts 24 hours, is charged once, and does not renew. A $60 year lasts 365 days. Neither charge is required to keep a page range here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool.
