What this form removal drops
Remove PDF forms takes one PDF and downloads one file named without-forms.pdf. There is no extra field. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib. It deletes the catalog AcroForm entry. It walks every page and drops annotations whose subtype is Widget. A link stays. A text note stays. Other annotation subtypes stay. The worker does not call PDFForm.flatten. It does not draw a field appearance into the page content. pdf-lib names a burned appearance FlatWidget and then adds a suffix. This file has no FlatWidget XObject. A Helvetica text field that says Ada Lovelace is removed. Those words are not painted onto the page, so the text layer does not gain Ada Lovelace. Page text that says KEEP stays extractable. A link annotation keeps the URI https://example.com/keep-link. A text note keeps the contents NOTE-THREE. The document title Keep Title stays. A page rotated 90 degrees keeps that rotation. The page count stays the same. The page size stays the same. A PDF that has no form still saves, and its words stay. This is not Flatten PDF, which burns the appearance into the page and then removes the form. This is not Remove PDF annotations, which drops links and comments and keeps the widget. This is not Remove PDF links, which drops only Link annotations. This page does not rasterize the page into a picture. It does not guess a password. The original file on disk is not rewritten.
The removal runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads without-forms.pdf. Flatten PDF writes flattened.pdf and burns the field. Remove PDF annotations writes no-annotations.pdf and keeps the widget. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
There is no page cap on this removal. The tab has to hold the file. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to remove a form here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.
An empty file stops with "This PDF could not be read." Bytes that are not a PDF stop with "This PDF could not be read." A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." A locked file, opened without its password, stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
