What this A5 resize changes
Resize PDF to A5 takes one PDF and no paper control. There is no Letter radio and no A4 radio. The sheet is portrait A5. The media box is the width and height of pdf-lib PageSizes.A5, 419.53 by 595.28 points. The worker creates a new document and does not copy form fields. For each page it calls embedPage and draws that page on a new A5 sheet. pdf-lib 1.17 reads the media box with getWidth and getHeight, so a rotation of 90 or 270 swaps those numbers before the fit. The scale is the smaller ratio of the sheet to the source, and both axes use it, so the aspect stays. The drawing is centered. A larger page scales down. A smaller page scales up. A page of 200 by 100 points becomes a sheet of 419.53 by 595.28 points. Nothing is cropped. A page with no contents becomes a blank A5 sheet. This is not Resize PDF, which fits Letter or A4. This is not Resize PDF to Legal, which uses a sheet of 612 by 1008 points. The download is one PDF named a5.pdf, not a zip.
The fit runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. Open the network panel, drop a PDF, and that file should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. There is no email field on this page. The browser downloads a5.pdf. Letter and A4 stay on Resize PDF. US Legal stays on Resize PDF to Legal. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
There is no page cap on this tool. The tab has to hold the file. There is no account on this page. This page does not need a pass. The day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. The year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to fit a page on A5 here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.
An empty file, and a file that cannot be opened, fails with "This PDF could not be read." A PDF with no pages fails with "This PDF has no pages." A locked PDF stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined", because the worker cannot read the encrypted page. Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not guess a password.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.

Questions

No. Each page is scaled to fit inside portrait A5 and centered. The sheet is PageSizes.A5, 419.53 by 595.28 points. The aspect stays. A page of 200 by 100 points keeps its ratio and leaves blank paper above and below. A small page scales up. A large page scales down. The worker does not crop and does not add form fields. Resize PDF is the page for Letter or A4. Resize PDF to Legal is the page for 612 by 1008 points.
Does this upload the PDF?
No. It runs in this tab. The file is not uploaded. Open the network panel, drop the file, and the PDF should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. You get one file named a5.pdf. The Word page uploads.
Do the words stay selectable?
Yes, when the source had standard-font text. embedPage keeps that text, so the words stay selectable. A page that says Hello still yields Hello after the fit. The tool does not turn the page into a picture.
