What this title writes

Set PDF title takes one PDF and a text field labeled Title. The input has maxLength 200, and the worker trims the text. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib and sets updateMetadata to false, so Producer and the modification date stay. It sets the info dictionary Title to that exact trimmed string. SECRET-TITLE is stored as SECRET-TITLE. It does not clear Author, so KEEP-AUTHOR stays KEEP-AUTHOR. It does not clear Subject, so KEEP-SUBJECT stays KEEP-SUBJECT. It does not clear the catalog XMP stream, so a planted marker SECRET-XMP-MARKER remains. Keywords, Creator, Producer, and the two dates stay. The page drawing stays, and selectable words stay selectable. The download is one PDF named titled.pdf. It is not a zip. The original file on the computer is not rewritten. This is not Remove PDF info, which clears the info dictionary and leaves the XMP stream. This is not Remove PDF metadata, which also deletes the catalog metadata stream. Nothing is rasterized.

The write runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Open the network panel, drop a PDF, and that file should not appear as an upload. The title field is not sent to a server either. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads titled.pdf. Remove PDF info clears the dictionary. Remove PDF metadata also drops the XMP stream. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.

There is no page cap on this write. The tab has to hold the file. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to set a title here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.

An empty or unreadable file stops with "This PDF could not be read." A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." An empty title stops with "Enter a title." Text longer than 200 characters stops with "Use 200 characters or fewer." A locked file stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.

Steps

  1. Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
  2. Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
  3. Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
