What this blank page adds
Add blank page takes one PDF and a number field named after. The input is type=number and starts at 0. The label is After page. Zero inserts one empty page before the first page. A whole number n inserts one empty page after page n, counting from 1. Width and height match the neighbor: page 1 when after is 0, otherwise page n. The worker calls pdf-lib insertPage at that index with that size. It draws nothing. It does not write the words PDF Commons, a logo, or a trial line. Existing pages keep their order and their selectable text. The download is one PDF named with-blank.pdf, not a zip. The original file is not rewritten. Organize, merge, and split are the sibling pages and do not insert this blank page.
The insert runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. Open the network panel, set After page, and the PDF should not appear as an upload. There is no GridFS copy and no email field. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads with-blank.pdf. PDF to Word at /pdf-to-word uploads. This page does not.
There is no page cap. The tab has to hold the file. One blank page is inserted no matter how long the PDF is, if the browser can keep it. This page does not need a pass and has no account. The day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. The year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required here. The free server file is one PDF to Word conversion, up to 20 pages, and that 20-page server cap is not this tool. OCR and heavy compress are paid uploads. Add blank page is not that offer.
After page must be a whole number from 0 through the page count. A fraction, a non-number, a value below 0, or a value past the last page fails with "Name a page that exists." A PDF with no pages fails with "This PDF has no pages." Empty bytes, and a file that cannot be opened, fail with "This PDF could not be read." A locked PDF fails with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". This page does not guess a password. Unlock PDF is the separate page.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
Questions
Where does the empty page land?
0 puts the empty page before the first page and matches page 1 in width and height. A number n puts it after page n and matches page n. pdf-lib insertPage draws nothing and does not add the words PDF Commons. The file is with-blank.pdf.
Does add blank page upload the PDF?
No. It runs in this tab. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Closing the tab drops the copy. PDF to Word at /pdf-to-word uploads one file, up to 20 pages. That 20-page server cap is not this tool.
Which page sets the size?
The neighbor does. After page 0 matches page 1. After page n matches page n. Other pages keep their size. The new page is empty: no line, no number, and not the words PDF Commons.
Does this page need a pass?
No. This page does not need a pass. There is no account and no page cap. The day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. The year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge inserts the blank page. The 20-page server cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress. It is not this tool.
