Where the blank pages land
Blank every N PDF takes one PDF and a whole number of pages. The field reads After every N pages and starts at 1. The download is one file named with-blanks.pdf. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib and inserts an empty page after every Nth page. The blank uses the width and height of the page it follows. A file of three pages that say ONE, TWO, and THREE, with 1 in the field, becomes six pages. A blank follows ONE, a blank follows TWO, and a blank follows THREE. ONE still measures 200 by 100 points, and the blank after it measures 200 by 100 points. TWO still measures 300 by 150 points. The blank pages have no drawn text. With 2 in the field, a four-page file gets a blank after page 2 and a blank after page 4. When the number is larger than the page count, the worker inserts nothing and the page count stays the same. A two-page file with 5 in the field stays two pages. A one-page file with 1 in the field becomes that page plus one blank of the same size. The document title Keep Title stays. This is not Add blank page. That page inserts one blank after a page you name, and it can put a blank at the front. This is not Split every N PDF. That page packs chunks into parts.zip. This page keeps one PDF. The original file on disk is not rewritten.
The insert runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads with-blanks.pdf. Add blank page inserts one blank. Split every N PDF packs parts.zip. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
There is no page cap on this insert. The tab has to hold the file. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to insert blanks here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.
An empty file stops with "This PDF could not be read." Bytes that are not a PDF stop with "This PDF could not be read." A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." A count that is not a whole number of 1 or more stops with "Enter a whole number of pages." Zero, a fraction, and a negative number all use that same sentence. A locked file, opened without its password, stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
Questions
Where do the blank pages go?
A blank page follows every Nth page. With 1, a blank follows each page. With 2, a blank follows page 2 and page 4, and page 1 has no blank after it. A number larger than the page count adds no page. The download is with-blanks.pdf.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. The insert runs in this tab. The file is not uploaded. Closing the tab drops the copy. You get one PDF named with-blanks.pdf. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
What size is each blank page?
Each blank matches the width and height of the page it follows. A page of 200 by 100 points is followed by a blank of 200 by 100 points. The blank has no content stream. Text that says ONE stays on its page. The title Keep Title stays.
Does this page need the $6 day pass?
No. A $6 day pass lasts 24 hours, is charged once, and does not renew. A $60 year lasts 365 days. Neither charge is required to insert blanks here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool.
