What dropping the first page changes
Drop first PDF page takes one PDF and shows no extra form field. Counting starts at 1. The worker always removes page 1 and leaves every later page in the same document and in the same order. A file whose pages say ONE and then TWO becomes one page whose text says TWO. A file whose pages say ONE, then TWO, then THREE becomes TWO and then THREE. The page that said ONE is gone. The download is one PDF named without-first.pdf. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib. The load sets ignoreEncryption to true and updateMetadata to false. A kept page that is 300 by 150 points stays 300 by 150 points. A kept page rotated 90 degrees keeps that rotation. The document title stays Keep Title. A link on a kept page stays with that page. Nothing is rasterized, so words that said TWO stay selectable text. The tool does not add a form field. This is not Delete PDF page, which asks you to name any one page. This is not Organize PDF, which can rotate, reorder, or delete several pages. This page always drops the first page and keeps the rest.
The drop runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Open the network panel, drop a PDF, and that file should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads without-first.pdf. Delete PDF page can remove a later page by number. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
There is no page cap on this drop. The tab has to hold the file. No account is required here. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to drop the first page here. The free server file is one PDF to Word conversion, up to 20 pages, and that 20-page server cap is not this tool. OCR and heavy compress are paid uploads.
A one-page file stops with "A PDF needs at least one page." A PDF with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." Empty bytes, and a file that cannot be opened, stop with "This PDF could not be read." A locked PDF keeps the pdf-lib message "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined" when that is the real error. Any other read failure stops with "This PDF could not be read." Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not guess a password and does not ask for one.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
