How to add a margin to a PDF
This tool adds blank space around every page. You type the margin in points. A point is 1/72 of an inch, so 36 points is half an inch and 72 points is one inch. You can use any whole number from 1 to 144. The same margin goes on all four sides. Your page is not shrunk. It is placed in the middle of a bigger page. A 200 by 100 page with a 36 point margin becomes 272 by 172. Your text stays text. Comments and form fields on the original pages are not kept. A margin helps when a printer cuts off the edges, when you want room to write notes, or when you plan to punch holes or bind pages. It also helps when text sits too close to the edge and looks cramped. The text itself is not touched.

How big is the page after I add a margin?
Each side of the page grows by twice the margin. A page that is 200 by 100 points with the starting margin of 36 becomes 272 by 172. Your content is not scaled.
