How to check the page size of a PDF
This tool lists the size of every page in your PDF. You download a text file, sizes.txt, with one line per page. Each line has three numbers: the page number, the width and the height, with a single space between them. Sizes are in points, and 72 points make one inch. A US Letter page reads as 1 612 792, and A4 is about 595 by 842. The numbers are the stored page size, so a page turned sideways still shows its original width and height. The words on the pages are not copied, and your file is not changed. Use it to find out if a file is Letter, A4 or something unusual before you print it, or to spot one odd page in a long file. Open the text file in any editor, such as Notepad or TextEdit.
Your file stays on your device. It is never uploaded, and nothing is kept after you close the page. You only get the text file. That makes it safe for contracts, bank statements, medical records and other private files.
Checking page sizes is free, with no account and no page limit. The only limit is your device's memory, so a very large file may not fit. There is nothing to install.
If the file is empty, damaged or not a PDF, try another copy. Password-protected? Unlock it first with Unlock PDF. To make every page the same size, use Resize PDF. Common questions
What do the numbers in sizes.txt mean?
Each line is the page number, then the width, then the height, in points. 72 points make one inch. A Letter page is 1 612 792. A single space separates the numbers.
Is my PDF uploaded to check its page size?
No. Your file stays on your device and is never uploaded. You get one text file, sizes.txt.
Does a rotated page change the page size numbers?
No. A page of 400 by 200 points turned 90 degrees still shows 400 and 200. The tool reports the stored size and does not apply the turn. sizes.txt is text, not a PDF.
