How a JPEG becomes a PDF page

JPG to PDF makes one PDF page from each JPEG you choose. The page uses that image's own pixel size. A wide photo stays a wide page. A tall photo stays a tall page. The tool does not fit the picture onto a letter sheet, and it does not crop it to another frame. It does not downsample. Several files are allowed. Page order is the order you chose them. The first chosen file is the first page. The next chosen file is the next page. The tool does not sort by file name, and it does not sort by the date the camera stored.

The work runs in this browser tab. Open the network panel, choose the JPEGs, and they should not appear as an upload. The PDF is built here and offered as a download. Closing the tab drops the copy. There is no copy waiting on a server, because the pictures never left this computer. The file has no PDF Commons watermark. The tool does not stamp a name, a logo, or a trial line on the pages.

This local tool has no account and no daily cap. There is no page cap on the form. The tab has to hold the images while the PDF is built. A day pass is $6 and does not renew. A year is $60. Neither charge is required to build the PDF here. The free server file is PDF to Word. That offer is one file, up to 20 pages, and that page uploads. JPG to PDF is not that offer. This form does not ask for a checkout email, and it does not send the pictures away.

A PNG belongs on PNG to PDF. This page accepts JPEG files. PNG to PDF is the sibling for PNG files. It also makes one page per image, at that image's own size, and it does not downsample. A photo of a letter or a scanned sheet can become a PDF here, but the result is still a picture. The words are not selectable, because the tool only placed the image and never read the letters. PDF to JPG is the opposite direction. It starts from a PDF and makes pictures, so text on a scan stops being selectable there as well. Reading pictures of text is OCR. OCR is the server page, and it uploads the file.

Steps

  1. Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
  2. Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
  3. Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.

Questions

Which image is the first page?

The first JPEG you choose. Order is the order of that choice. The tool does not rearrange the files by name or by the date inside the photo. Choose them again if you want a different sequence. Each file is still one page at the image's own size, and the tool still does not downsample.

Do the JPEGs get uploaded?

No. JPG to PDF stays in this tab. Open the network panel, choose the images, and they should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. The PDF has no PDF Commons watermark. PDF to Word is the page that uploads a file for a free conversion.

Will the words in a photo become text I can select?

No. Pictures of text are not read on this page. A JPEG of a page stays a picture, so the words are not selectable. OCR is the server page that reads pictures of text, and OCR uploads the file. OCR needs a $6 day pass or the $60 year. The free server file is PDF to Word, not this tool.

Do I need an account to build this PDF?

No. This local tool has no account. A day pass is $6 and does not renew. A year is $60. Neither charge is required to build the PDF here. You need one of those only for a server job such as OCR.
