Pages that remain

Keep first and last takes one PDF and downloads one file named ends.pdf. This page has no option field. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib. It keeps the first page and the last page and drops every page that sits between them. A file of three pages that say ONE, TWO, and THREE becomes two pages. The first page still says ONE and still measures 200 by 100 points. The last page still says THREE and still measures 400 by 200 points. The middle page that says TWO is gone, along with its 300 by 150 point box. The document title Keep Title stays. A link annotation on the first page stays. A rotation of 90 degrees on the first page stays. A rotation of 180 degrees on the last page stays. When the file has only one page, the first page and the last page are that same page, so the result is still that one page. The tool does not paste a second copy of it. When the file has two pages, both stay, in the same order, and nothing is dropped. This is not Keep PDF range. That page asks you to type a start and an end. This page always uses page 1 and the final page. This is not Delete PDF page. That page removes one page you name and keeps the rest. This page removes every middle page in one step. This is not Split PDF, not Organize PDF, and not Reverse PDF. The first page stays first. The last page stays last.

The trim runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads ends.pdf. Keep PDF range is the page where you type a start and an end. Delete PDF page removes one named page. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.

There is no page cap on this trim. The tab has to hold the file. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to keep the ends here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.

An empty file stops with "This PDF could not be read." Bytes that are not a PDF stop with "This PDF could not be read." A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." A locked file, opened without its password, stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.

Steps

  1. Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
  2. Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
  3. Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.

Questions

Which pages stay in ends.pdf?

The first page and the last page stay, in that order. A three-page file keeps page 1 and page 3. The middle page is removed. A two-page file keeps both pages. Text that says ONE stays on the first page. Text that says THREE stays on the last page. Text that says TWO does not remain.

Is the PDF uploaded?

No. The trim runs in this tab. The file is not uploaded. Closing the tab drops the copy. You get one PDF named ends.pdf. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.

What happens when the PDF has one page?

The first page and the last page are the same page, so the file stays one page. The tool does not duplicate it. Duplicate PDF page is a different tool. A rotation already on that page stays. The download is still ends.pdf.

Does this page need the $6 day pass?

No. A $6 day pass lasts 24 hours, is charged once, and does not renew. A $60 year lasts 365 days. Neither charge is required to keep the ends here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool.
