What replacing a page with a blank page changes
Replace with blank PDF page takes one PDF and a page field named page. The default is 1. The download is one file named with-blank.pdf. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib, ignoreEncryption true and updateMetadata false. getWidth and getHeight read the media box, not the displayed size after rotation. A page that measures 300 by 400 points stays 300 by 400 points even when that page was rotated. The named page is removed and a blank page of the same width and height is inserted at the same index. The blank page has no text and no annotations. The page count stays the same. Other pages stay in order with their text, rotation, and links. Text that says ONE stays on the first page. Text that says THREE stays on the third page. Text that said TWO is gone. A link on the first page stays. A link on the replaced page is gone. The document title stays Keep Title. The content stream of a kept page is not rewritten. Nothing is rasterized. This is not Delete PDF page, which shortens the file. This is not Add blank page, which raises the count. This is not Drop last PDF page, which has no page field.
The replacement runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Open the network panel, drop a PDF, and that file should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads with-blank.pdf. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.
There is no page cap on this replacement. The tab has to hold the file. There is no account on this page. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to replace a page with a blank page here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.
An empty or unreadable file stops with "This PDF could not be read." A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." A page that is not a whole number of at least 1, or is past the last page, stops with "Name a page that exists." A locked file, opened without its password, stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.
Steps
- Drop the file. It stays in this tab.
- Set the one option on the page, if it has one.
- Download the result. Closing the tab drops the copy.
Questions
Which page becomes blank?
The page you name. The field starts at 1. ONE, then TWO, then THREE, with page 2 named, stays three pages. ONE and THREE stay. Page 2 is blank at the old media-box size, such as 300 by 400 points, with no text and no link.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. The replacement runs in this tab. The file is not uploaded. Open the network panel and the PDF should not appear as an upload. Closing the tab drops the copy. You get one file named with-blank.pdf. The Word page is the one that uploads.
Do the other pages keep their words and links?
Yes. ONE stays on page 1 and THREE stays on page 3. The title stays Keep Title. A rotation flag on a kept page stays. A link on page 1 stays. A link on the replaced page is gone. Nothing is rasterized, so a kept page does not become a picture.
Does this page need a pass?
No. This page does not need a pass. There is no account and no page cap on this local tool. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to replace a page with a blank page here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool.
