Where the vertical cut falls

Split vertical PDF takes one PDF and cuts every page down the middle. There is no page field. The download is one file named split-vertical.pdf. The worker loads the file with pdf-lib. It copies each page, then sets the media box and the crop box. The first copy is the left half. The next copy is the right half. The cut is a vertical line halfway across the media box width. A page that measures 200 by 100 points becomes two pages of 100 by 100 points. The left media box starts at x 0. The right media box starts at x 100. Text drawn at x 20 that says ONE stays on the left half. Text drawn at x 120 that says RIGHT stays on the right half. Words outside a half are not shown there, because the box no longer covers them. The content stream is copied, not redrawn, and nothing is rasterized. A link on the first page is copied onto both halves. The document title Keep Title stays. The author Keep Author stays. A page of 300 by 150 points becomes two pages of 150 by 150 points, and the right box starts at x 150. A page of 400 by 200 points rotated 90 degrees becomes two pages of 200 by 200 points. Both keep that rotation. The right box starts at x 200. Text that says THREE, drawn at x 20, stays on the left half. Three pages become six pages. One page becomes two pages. This is not One page PDFs, which packs whole pages into pages.zip. This is not Split PDF, which can save whole pages, keep a range, or cut after a named page. This is not Split every N PDF, which packs chunks into parts.zip. This page keeps one PDF and always cuts at the midpoint. The original file on disk is not rewritten.

The cut runs in this tab with the open-source workers. The file is not uploaded. There is no GridFS copy. Closing the tab drops the copy. The browser downloads split-vertical.pdf. One page PDFs packs pages.zip. Split PDF can save separate files. The Word page at /pdf-to-word uploads.

There is no page cap on this cut. The tab has to hold the file. This page does not need a pass. A day pass is $6, charged once, for 24 hours, and it does not renew. A year is $60 for 365 days. Neither charge is required to cut pages here. The 20-page server cap is not this tool. That cap belongs to PDF to Word, OCR, and heavy compress.

An empty file stops with "This PDF could not be read." Bytes that are not a PDF stop with "This PDF could not be read." A file with no pages stops with "This PDF has no pages." A locked file, opened without its password, stops with "Expected instance of PDFDict, but got instance of undefined". Unlock PDF is the separate page. This page does not ask for a password and does not guess one.

Steps
