How to cover the right edge of a PDF

This tool puts a solid white bar over the right edge of every page. Type how many points wide the bar should be. It starts at 72, which is one inch. The bar reaches across the full height of the page. Use it to hide a margin note or a column down the side. The words and pictures under the bar are hidden, not deleted. They are still in the file, and someone can still copy them. Do not use this to hide secrets. The page size, the page count, and the layout stay the same. The bar is white, so on a colored page it shows as a white bar. You get one file named covered.pdf, and your original is not changed.

Your PDF stays on your device. It's never uploaded, and you don't need to share an email address. Your browser makes the new file and saves it as covered.pdf. When you close the page, nothing is left behind.

Covering part of a page is free. There's no account, no page limit, and no watermark. Very large files depend on your device's memory, so a huge PDF may not open. The bar must leave at least one point of the page showing, and the number must be a whole number above 0.

If you type 0, a decimal, or a negative number, you'll be asked for a whole number of points. If the bar would cover the whole page, you'll be asked for a smaller number, because at least one point must stay showing. If your PDF won't open, it may be damaged or may not be a real PDF. Try another copy. Password-protected? It won't open here. Unlock it first with Unlock PDF, then try again.

Common questions

Where does the white bar go on the page?

Over the right edge of every page, from the top to the bottom edge. You choose how wide it is, in points. It starts at 72, which is one inch.

Is my PDF uploaded when I cover part of a page?

No. Your file stays on your device. It's never uploaded. Nobody else sees your pages. You get covered.pdf as a download, and your original file is not changed.

Does my page change size?

No. The page keeps its size, and nothing is scaled. The white bar sits on top. The text under it is hidden, not deleted, so someone could still copy it.

Is it free to cover the right edge of a PDF?

Yes, it's free. No account, no daily limit, no watermark. Very large files depend on your device's memory.
